The Physician Recruitment and Retention Program
Recognizing the important role that physicians play in the health of our community, the City of Hamilton, the Hamilton Academy of Medicine and the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce collaborated to create the Physician Recruitment and Retention Program branded as Hamilton Physicians. With generous contributions from the City of Hamilton, Hamilton Health Sciences, St. Joseph’s Healthcare, Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University, and the Department of Family Medicine, McMaster University, the program has been able to assist over 100 physicians in selecting and transitioning to the best practice possible. The physician recruitment specialist, Jane Walker, takes care to thoroughly understand the physician’s professional goals and objectives as well as their practice style to ensure that the right practice is found. Educating physicians on practice management issues is of paramount importance and plays a key role in the success of the practice and the physician. Jane frequently provides seminars for new family practice residents as well as for retiring physicians.  With degrees in Commerce and Education combined with additional training in adult education, and now with over six years in this position, Jane has a wealth of information to share with physicians.
